International Childhood Cancer Awareness Month

September 1 - September 30

Cancer kills more Australian children than all other diseases combined. Around 1 in 285 kids are diagnosed prior to reaching adulthood. Over 10,000 Australian children are fighting cancer now. Another 1,100 are diagnosed each year. 1 in 5 kids die within 5 years of diagnosis. September is International Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.

Shoctober: Defibrillator Awareness Month

October is nationally recognised as Defibrillator Awareness Month. This Shoctober, your workplace can show it cares about cardiac arrest survival. During October, the Cardiac Arrest Survival Foundation are calling on workplaces to show they care about Cardiac Arrest Survival by hosting their own Shoctober Event as a Defibrillator Awareness Program.  Shoctober makes helping easy, by providing the tools and resources that a workplace would need. Polio Awareness Month

October 1 - October 31

Polio (poliomyelitis or infantile paralysis) is a disease that has virtually been forgotten by our community and health professionals. Although vaccination programs beginning in the late 1950s have prevented new infections in Australia, polio survivors form the largest single physical disability group in the country. Polio Australia is calling all polio survivors to join them in Canberra on Wednesday 31st October 2012 at the culmination of the National Polio Awareness Month’s “We’re Still Here!” campaign.
