Independent Disability Services response to COVID-19

Independent Disability Services (IDS) is committed to ensuring our clients and staff remain safe during this challenging time. Below is important information regarding how we are managing the COVID-19 pandemic.

Following advice from the World Health Organisation (WHO) and Australian Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), the IDS Executive Team have developed a detailed response to the pandemic to ensure our clients and staff remain looked after.

  • Social distancing practise of 1.5 meters at all times.

  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) continues to be available to all our staff.

  • IDS encourage all clients and staff to download and register for the COVIDSafe App.

  • Clients and staff are encouraged to practise good hygiene, i.e. hand washing, covering sneezes and regular sanitisation.

  • All IDS staff have completed additional Infection Control training specific to COVID-19 provided by the DHHS.

  • Staff are to phone ahead to advise if they are experiencing symptoms of the virus or feeling even mildly unwell.

  • All our staff are reimbursed for influenza (flu) vaccinations.

  • IDS staff have access to a basin, hand soap, paper towel and/or hand dryer to wash and dry hands.

  • We have ample stock of hand sanitisers available for all our staff to use.

  • Our staff and clients receive pertinent communication regarding COVID-19 updates.
