Polio Awareness Month

October 1 - October 31

Polio (poliomyelitis or infantile paralysis) is a disease that has virtually been forgotten by our community and health professionals. Although vaccination programs beginning in the late 1950s have prevented new infections in Australia, polio survivors form the largest single physical disability group in the country.

Polio Australia is calling all polio survivors to join them in Canberra on Wednesday 31st October 2012 at the culmination of the National Polio Awareness Month’s “We’re Still Here!” campaign.
