Richard Lee
Board Member
Richard Lee has a commerce degree from Melbourne University and a vast amount of experience in small and medium business, mainly in the area sales and marketing. He has also run his own business management and book-keeping firm.
After a catastrophic car smash in January 2003, Richard became a paraplegic at the T10 level. He is completely wheelchair bound and has no feeling or function below his waist. Due to the specialised nature of his injury, he also has damaged internal organs and function. Richard has appeared in the media and has long campaigned against the use of mobile phones in motor vehicles.
Richard has qualified as a mentor and volunteer peer support worker under the Spinal Cord Injury Service (SCIS) now SPIRE, and has worked with newly injured spinal patients in their rehabilitation phase for over ten years.
Richard is the longest serving member of the board of IDS and is a former treasurer. He is also a member of the Audit and Risk Committee of the Board.
He believes it is very important for him to “give back” to the community that has supported him to return to a happy and fulfilling life.
